Dealing with Spam.

Dealing With Spam

I know, it's been a while since I've updated my blog. I've been busy with my mobile project Puzzle Phrase (available for android) go and get it!

along with other things that I don't feel like mentioning at the moment.

One thing that inspired me today to write about is, SPAM. and no...not the meat in a can that us locals in Hawaii love but the spam that gets sent to your email. One of the reasons I wanted to write about this is because as a computer techy I know that some people can fall for it or simply do not know how to deal with it.

I've been getting some spam emails directly to my personal email and I know the reason for it, it's because someone I know simply doesn't like me and is trying to get me irritated. Little does he know. I know how to deal with it so it isn't a problem for me. despite our differences and how this person choose to act is simply out of my control but little does he know, I've been in the internet game far longer than he has and have way more tricks up my sleeves than he thinks. Anyways...

A lot of people ask me what does SPAM stand for, well besides, "Some Parts Are Meat" which is basically an acronym for the can spam. There is no acronym for SPAM as in email spam, it is basically a slang for Unsolicited Commercial Email.

Anyways, Let's get straight to the point, how can you deal and handle spam? Well, if you're like me, your personal email address is a google account such as gmail. If this is the case, and the spam doesn't get filtered by gmails junk mail and actually gets inboxed. What you want to do is report it for "phishing"

You can report it as spam but there is no fun in that. When you report it for "phishing" you actually spark a red flag to google which they will look into it deeper. If you do not know where this option is, check out these screenshots:

I have actually blurred out the website that was spammed to me simply to protect those who would actually be curious enough to visit the site.

It's pretty simple and straight to the point on how to deal with spam but I figure this was a topic that not all web surfers would know how to handle.

If you're old school or simply do not use gmail and use something like outlook, outlook express or windows live mail then you might want to check out Spam Bully click here

It's a new year so I will try to update more often...Yeah I know...I said that last year but..we will see how it goes.
