Dropbox VS Skydrive

Dropbox VS Skydrive

For this write up. I am going to compare dropbox and skydrive. Both of these cloud services are great in their own way.

Before I get into this I am going to tell you what inspired me. Well recently I got a new PC from a friend of mine. It was a bare bone Asus P8Z68 Deluxe motherboard with a beastly Intel core i7 2600k and a nice looking HAF case (Thank's Almin) So since I got all this new PC parts I decided to build it. I purchased a new Kingston SSDNow V+200 120GB SATA III 6Gb/s 2.5 Inch Solid State Drive KW-S2120-4B  from bestbuy locally and used a price match with amazon.com I got the drive for $100.

Anyways, I came home, installed windows 7 (not going to switch to windows 8) then started to make my new home into this PC. I kept my old drives with all of my work backed up in it as a slave drive. Well today...One of my 1TB slave drives with all my work in it crapped out. So It drove me to look for a good cloud solution.

So here we go with the dropbox vs skydrive cloud service.

Dropbox

Dropbox was the first cloud solution I went with when I decided to go into the cloud. First thing comes to mind when people think of a cloud services is dropbox. When or if you decide to upgrade your space it will run you roughly $9.99 per month or $99 per year for 100GB of storage. It currently supports Windows, OS X and Linux. It also supports Androids, iPad's, iPhone's and blackberry mobile devices. It also has a good set of file recovering features. Dropbox also has a package for business which is very helpful but a bit more pricey. It supports 5 users and up to 1,000GB or more of storage.

Another feature they have that I like is the referral system. For each friend you invite to dropbox you get 500MB added to your account. So do me a favor, if you do not have a dropbox account sign up now by clicking here

Skydrive

Skydrive is another great cloud solution and has been around for a while now. Currently beats dropbox's free feature. Where dropbox allows you only 2GB of free space and Skydrive allows you 7GB! Right now as far as I know it supports Windows, OS X, iPad's, iPhone's and Android devices and also the Windows Phones. If you were lucky enough and signed up with skydrive before hand, then you would have got 25GB of free storage compared to the now 7GB free storage but 7GB is still 3.5x more than what dropbox offers as a free solution. As for the pricing of skydrive, well...it too offers a better price at this time. As of now you can get 100GB of storage for $50.00 per year. The downfall is they do not have a monthly plan and you will only be able to get the 1 year plan but it is still $50 cheaper than dropbox.

So Here is a rundown of the two cloud services.

dropbox:
- 2GB Free Space
- 100GB = $9.99 per month or $99 per year
- Referral system to get you up to 18GB (500MB each user)
- Ability to pay monthly rather than only yearly

Skydrive:
- 7GB Free Space
- 100GB = $50 per year
- No referral system
- No monthly plans.

Both great cloud services...Tough decision to choose a winner. You decide.

Keep Your Computer Running Smoothly

keep your computer running smoothly

Sometimes we get caught up with life and forget about simple things like maintaining our pc. Which is the case with me.

Me being a computer guy I'm usually on top of things as far as keeping up with my computer to keep it up and running how it is supposed to. Well, like anyone life caught up to me and I forgot to take simple monthly steps to keep my computer running smoothly.

Well for the record, I have a custom built watercooled pc. Not everything is watercooled just the CPU and for about a week now it's been randomly rebooting. I checked my error reports and all it had was unexpected shutdown.

Most of the time this error is a result of a power outage. I did a virus scan even though I always scan my files before I install anything new but just to play it safe I scanned my whole computer.

It detected 1 virus but that was a false positive. Even though I knew for a fact it was a false positive I deleted the file anyway and cleaned the pc and immediately did another scan to make sure it was clean. After coming up virus free I thought hopefully that would fix the problem. Well, it did not fix the problem.

My pc rebooted again. I usually keep track of my cooling temps because I live in a very very hot environment but lately wasn't paying attention to it. I use a program called core temp it's freeware and a great handy tool to have.
Anyway, I checked my temps again and notice that my cpu was running HOT like reached critical highs of 72 Celcius which is WAY too hot for a CPU especially one connected to a watercooling block. So I let my pc rest for a bit then decided that I was going to turn the fan around (the fan that was connected to the watercooling radiator) and when I disconnected the fan I noticed it was covered in DUST! of course...because I haven't been dusting out the computer monthly as I should be...So I dusted out my two PC's which was covered in dust bunnies and hooked it back up and to my surprise my temps are now running at a steady 38 celcius.

And I didn't have a reboot all day.

It's those simple steps we tend to over look that ends up working. Dusting out your pc is like checking your oil on your vehicle, should be done regularly.

So Here are some tips to keep your computer running smoothly to avoid any headaches.

1. set your computer up to do a weekly defrag (Mine is setup to run Wednesday at 12am) I do this so That It runs while I am sleeping and not using the pc.

2. dust your computer out monthly. Use can of air or a small air compressor *be sure to hold your fans in place and don't let the air spin the fans*

3. scan for viruses every month. I use a free online virus scanner called Housecall By Trend Micro

4. uninstall any programs you don't plan to use

5. scan any new program you plan to install using Virus Total

6. create a restore point weekly or monthly.

7. delete cookies monthly

8. do a monthly scan disk

9. create drive back-ups.

10. avoid headaches by doing steps 1 - 9 and repeating every week or month.

If you're too lazy and want a program solution to keeping your computer running smoothly then try this

Although the program will help, it won't dust out your PC so...

That's all for now. I was planning on writing a full write up but got lazy while writing everything down.

Wicked Article Creator

Wicked Article Creator

This is one of my many tools that I use daily. It comes in handy and saves so much time.

As you know, I do search engine optimization. When combining wicked article creator (WAC) with other tools it makes my job so much easier. Also it has a great html builder feature where it scrapes the keyword you are after, pulls a ton of articles based on that keyword then spins the article making the content 80% - 97% unique!

What used to take hours to build now literally takes me 5 mins. And these guys are constantly upgrading the program adding features, fixing bugs. For the price of this, it's a steal!

Before you would have to pay yearly for this tool but recently the guys over at wicked article creator changed it and now its a one-time pay tool which basically means, you get this program for life. With all of the future updates and everything.

Now let's talk about support...If you're like me, you like to have live chat access or quick support response when there is a problem because we all know, time is money.

Well the guys over at wicked article creator knows this as well. Recently I had a problem and emailed the support team, within 5 mins they responded to fix and sort the problem, I was up and running building articles in no time.

I mainly use this program for my tiered link building process and as you know writing articles for backlinks is no fun process and is very time consuming.

As far as web content goes, I never put spun content on my websites but that's just me, I do know a few people that do and get away with it but with this program you actually can put spun content on your main website if you wish because the articles are quite good in quality but as I said, my personal websites I like to write my own content.

There are so many features that I can't get into right now but this is one of the many tools that I use for my online internet marketing ventures and I personally stand by this software.

Before I knew about this software I had to write content for my backlinks then I got tired of doing that and hired a virtual assistant...even though the virtual assistant was cheap it was still running me around $100 - $200 per week and that was killing me. That's when I decided to go with wicked article creator and it saved me so much time and money.

If you're interested in generating articles based on keywords with 1 click of a button then I suggest you buy this program. Here is the link: click here

More Godaddy Coupon Codes

Godaddy Coupon Codes.

Gotta love them. Today is April 1, 2013 but this is no way an april fools joke. Today I registered 3 new .com's for my new mini authority sites and got them for less than $6 with ICANN fee's

I used 3 different coupon codes. I had to register each domain individually. So when doing this just be sure to log out of your godaddy account and continue on with your domain purchase. Make sure only 1 of the 3 domains is in your cart.

Use one of these 3 godaddy coupons at your checkout.

$1.87 with coupon code CJCEB169
$2.17 with coupon code gofbin03
$1.17 with coupon code FB99COM

and that is basically it. Total came out to $5.21 for 3 .com registrations for 1 year.

My Personal Skype ID and How Unprofessional It Looks

My Personal Skype ID and How Unprofessional It Looks

Sometime's my clients ask me for my personal skype ID. The thing is, I never noticed how unprofessional it may look to my clients.

My personal skype ID nanakuliboy was created awhile back and it wasn't meant for business at the time.

Today I was thinking about it and thought what it would be like if I was the client and seen a skype ID "nanakuliboy"

I'd be curious and google it. First of all, I wouldn't know what nanakuli is so that would spark curiosity. So I did what any normal person would do... I googled "nanakuli boy" and here are the results.

First off, those social network pages are not mine!
Second, who uses myspace?!

All jokes aside, I really feel it is time to get a new skype ID. Something that is brandable and something that presents myself as a professional.

Oahu Overpopulated

Oahu Overpopulated

So today is one of those days...you know...those days when everything just seems to go wrong and it's out of your control.

Well my update today will not have anything to do with internet marketing but rather the living conditions here in hawaii.

As you all know I'm born and raised here in Hawaii on the island of Oahu. I grew up in a small town called Nanakuli and later moved to Waianae.

Anyway, I am so fed up with the living conditions here. I am ready to move. I was curious and did a search on google for "oahu overpopulated" and came across a post via yahoo answers.

The post pretty much sums it up in a nutshell.

Ironically it was posted in yahoo.ca which is the extension for Canada and basically the place I want to be able to move to in the near future.

Here is the post:
http://ca.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100624153024AAPDasK

I am sick of the over priced items here. Since everything needs to be shipped down to hawaii everything needs to get marked up on price. The over priced items here make it hard to live comfortably.

Also I am sick of the crazy impatient idiot drivers here. On top of that it's so crowded if you have a 9-5 job. 2 hours of that time is spent sitting in traffic. From your daily commute to work and back. If there is an accident then it's usually longer...

I know a lot of people might get offended by my post but I really don't care. This is my own personal opinion   on living here in Oahu.

Some might argue it's the price to pay to live in paradise...but seriously...the homes where I live are already reaching 500k which is HALF A MILLION DOLLARS! and this area is no where near paradise. It's a damn ghetto.

For 500k I could buy a house in the mainland with a swimming pool, secluded with no noisy irritating neighbors and with marble tile flooring and chandeliers...

I guess what makes it overpopulated is when tourist come here to visit, falls in love with their 1 week stay then decides to move here and realizes that it is not a great place to live. During this time they are stuck here and forcing more local people out because of the overpopulation.

I guess I am one of those hawaii locals that simply can't stand it any longer. With more and more people from the mainland moving down here it is pushing more and more local people to move to the mainland!

Isn't it ironic how this world works?

On top of that the service we get here pretty much sucks, hard to get a good internet connection and if you want something decent be prepared to dish out $100 bucks per month for a business internet line...

For less than half that price you can get a regular Residential line in the mainland with the same speeds as a business line down here...

Also I've been through many phones and services and so far have yet to find a good cell phone service provider...I am currently with sprint and they SUCK! always no cell phone service and they offer unlimited internet but what they don't tell you is that hawaii doesn't have 4G LTE so we have unlimited SLOW internet that's worst than a dialup!

but don't get me wrong, this is still my home and will always be and there are some amazing and beautiful places here but as the years go by and more and more people try to move here it just drives more of us local people away.

The fact is...In my personal opinion and my 28 years of experience Oahu is way over priced and overpopulated.

It's no wonder why many local people end up moving to the mainland.

Gov and Edu Backlinks

GOV and EDU Backlinks

Having .gov and .edu backlinks to your site is important but not everyone knows how to obtain them.

I will show you a quick and easy way to get .gov and .edu backlinks. In fact so quick, sometimes it's easier to do this then to build regular backlinks.

In this write up I will provide you with 38 .edu and .gov websites where you can get your backlinks from.

The backlinks will give you great SEO juice for your website and also keyword diversity. Since we won't be using anchor text with these backlinks and simply placing  a link back to our site.

Of course it would be way better if we could add a keyword anchor text to these links but with this method we simply can't but don't worry this will still be a great source of high quality backlinks that will boost your SERPS for sure.

Above is a screenshot of the 38 backlinks. Write these backlinks down into notepad and press control + h to replace.

Now replace "http://www.yoursite.com" with your site.

For obvious reasons, I posted the links as a screenshot instead of actually writing them out.

Trust me, it's worth it to take 2 mins to write it out.

Now that you have the backlinks typed out into notepad you will need to get the links indexed.

To do this, simply go to www.pingfarm.com and mass ping those links and there you have it. Instant .gov and .edu backlinks for your site.

If you would like more tips and tricks to search engine optimization and internet marketing be sure to bookmark my blog.

Ranking videos on youtube

Since it's been some time since my last update as usual I decided to create a video on how I find keywords that are highly searched then create a video and rank it. That failed because the video ended up being like 25 mins long.

I didn't feel like editing it so I guess if you are really interested in getting this done, send me an email. If I get enough emails I'll take the time to edit the video and post a how-to.

Here is a screenshot of a video I was able to rank in 1 day. It got 660 views in a day! and now ranking on the first page of youtube for that specific keyword.

Well if you don't know by now. I have been marketing and promoting the site www.bodybuildingcookbook.com which is ranking pretty well on the search engines.

My methods for ranking is completely whitehat and organic. If you need to get some marketing done on your site or search engine optimization check out www.g-fx.net

On another note. I got invited to watch the advance screener for 21 and over and it was funny as hell! must see movie.

I have been pretty busy lately which is why this blog doesn't have much updates. Not sure when I will get back to updating it daily but I will try my best to update it when possible.

Keyword Research And How I Do It

Keyword Research and How I personally find them for clients and myself.

It's been awhile since my last update so I figure I'd give a great update that you too will be able to monetize on.

It's really simple and a lot of people need this service. I normally charge anywhere from $20 - $30 for keyword research and it literally takes me less than 10 minutes.

I've seen others charging $100+ for this same exact service. I've recorded myself doing keyword research so you can follow along and pause the video when ever you need.

The tools that I used in this video are:

1. Comodo Dragon Web Browser
2. Google's Keyword Tool for Adwords
3. Scrapebox ($57)
4. Notepad
5. Microsoft Excel

In this video I show you how I find highly searched keywords with little to no competition. In other words, Easy to rank keywords. You can provide this same service for your clients, use it to rank your own niche sites or even use it to find Exact Match Domains to flip if that is something you would want to do.

Below is the video I made while I was doing the keyword research for my client.

Now take this information and do what you want with it. Use it for yourself to start building and ranking websites, sell the service...It doesn't matter.

Just Apply this valuable information and monetize it some how. I hope this makes up for the lack of post. Been busy with other projects.

Hope you enjoyed the video!

Can I Get This Cheaper? Can You Rush This Order?

Can I Get This Cheaper? Can You Rush This Order?

As an Internet Marketer / Web Developer I hear these things all the time!

First people promising one thing if they can get a deal on the current price or second they want you to rush the job.

One of the most common messages and replies I get from people buying my online graphics design service is.

"Would you accept $xxx.xx ? I have a lot of work to provide you. Accept my offer and I will bring you more work"

Well there is nothing wrong with giving a discount every now and then but I notice it to be a more common thing now days.

I personally rather offer my older clients discounts on future orders rather than offering a new client a discount straight off the bat.

Depending on my work load I sometimes give my new clients a discount.

If I am backed up with work then I usually tell them that they will need to make a purchase at the regular price and if they do have more work to offer me then I will consider giving a discount on those future orders.

Another common message or reply I receive is.

"Hey I just purchased and paid. I am on a deadline and need this designed by tomorrow, can you get me a first draft by tonight"

First of all, with any service that is provided, whether it's an automotive service or an online design service if there is a rush to be made on the orders there will also be a rush price.

Again, it all comes down to how much work I am currently doing at the moment, if I am free and able to rush the job for the client, I will always go out of my way to please the client and rush the order. Other then that I will simply tell them that if they need the order rushed there will be a rush fee that they will need to pay.

Most of the time they will understand but there are a few that demand a refund after.

These are just a few things I personally face as an online web developer and I know that there are others out there that face the same or similar situation.

How do you personally handle situations like these?

With A New Year Comes New Renewal Fees

Happy New Years!

Well like always, with a new year comes new renewal fees. Now when it comes to domains, I usually go where the coupons are!

Most times I tend to go with the godaddy coupon code which gets you a new domain for $1.17 (after icann fees) - $8.XX (don't know the exact cent amount)

Thing with this is...they catch you a year later when it's time to renew! And that is what happen here in my case.

I am letting a lot of domains drop today from my portfolio and kept only the ones that are developed and doing good...

trust me a lot of good domains are dropping out of my portfolio but I simply do not have the funds to renew them all...

Another place I go to for domains is namecheap.com they are straight to the point of $10.67 with free private reg. so...with that being said..I also have a domain portfolio there that needs renewing this year.. and again, only keeping the domains that are developed and making revenue.

I have a bad habit of registering too many domain names and never finding the time to develop them.

It just seems that time is going by way too fast.

Anyways, back to the subject. If you find yourself in the same boat as me having to renew a bunch of domain names (which adds up on the pockets) then try these godaddy domain coupon codes.

gda776 - $8.49 .COMs Domain Renewal
bacon3 - $7.67 .NET domain renewal

These codes helped out! especially when you got a ton of domains to renew.

If you're interested in the 99 cent domain coupons I use. Here are some that should work as of 01/03/2013

lks99d
cjc99d
iap99d

The above codes are for $0.99 .com registers. They come out to $1.17 for 1 year (damn you icann fees!)

Anyway, Enjoy the coupons and hope you can put them to good use.
